VOLUNTEER CENTRE FOUNDATION

Profile:
The Volunteer Centre Foundation - established in 2002 - aims to support volunteers and their employers in Hungary with information, consulting and training. The Foundation intends to propagate volunteering culture, and to enhance its public acceptance through the fulfilment of specific tasks by private individuals, social organisations, institutions, and enterprises. The long-distance aim of the foundation, having gained substantial domestic experience, in joint action with international development and humanitarian aid services in Hungary, is to participate in forming a civil volunteer sending mechanism, and to provide an institutional and conceptual framework for foreign volunteering.

Activities:
Among the Foundation's tasks is to mediate volunteers to civil organisations, to provide information, to carry out research and assessment in focus with the primary aims, to follow volunteering legislation, lobbying activity, and to foster a civil media centre. The Foundation organises conferences, lectures, seminars, and trainings for volunteers; and since 2001 annually holds the "Week of Volunteers'" event. The common feature of its activities is that the Foundation strives to establish and operate an effective relationship within the volunteering sector both nationally and internationally.
