VOLUNTEER CENTRE FOUNDATION
Profile:
The Volunteer Centre Foundation - established in 2002 -
aims to support volunteers and their employers in Hungary
with information, consulting and training. The Foundation
intends to propagate volunteering culture, and to enhance
its public acceptance through the fulfilment of specific
tasks by private individuals, social organisations, institutions,
and enterprises. The long-distance aim of the foundation,
having gained substantial domestic experience, in joint
action with international development and humanitarian aid
services in Hungary, is to participate in forming a civil
volunteer sending mechanism, and to provide an institutional
and conceptual framework for foreign volunteering.
Activities:
Among the Foundation's tasks is to mediate volunteers to
civil organisations, to provide information, to carry out
research and assessment in focus with the primary aims,
to follow volunteering legislation, lobbying activity, and
to foster a civil media centre. The Foundation organises
conferences, lectures, seminars, and trainings for volunteers;
and since 2001 annually holds the "Week of Volunteers'"
event. The common feature of its activities is that the
Foundation strives to establish and operate an effective
relationship within the volunteering sector both nationally
and internationally.
