FOUNDATION FOR DEMOCRATIC YOUTH
Profile:
"The aim of the Foundation For Democratic Youth is
that today's youth become such full members of the changing
society, who dare, want to and are able to change their
own life."
The Foundation for Democratic Youth (DIA) is an organisation
of public utility, for the development of civil society
through the involvement of youth, ages 14-25, in voluntary
work in Central and Eastern Europe. The voluntary programs
of DIA enable students of participating schools, and youth
organisations, to study civil awareness and to utilise the
acquired knowledge in real life. The fundamental element
for the program's success rests in the co-operation of young
volunteers, local co-ordinators and NGOs. To this a continuous
professional help and background is guaranteed from the
foundation.
Activities:
Besides professional help the foundation organises trainings
and conferences. A comprehensive manual and a continuously
expanding Internet home-page make the trainings complete.
Within the framework of the international program -EVS-
the foundation sends and hosts volunteers to and from abroad.
The purpose of international camps and exchange programs
organised by the foundation is to get the volunteers of
various countries together. In the area of international
development the organisation primarily takes active part
in the creation of legal framework and functioning mechanism
for international volunteering. Its other main objective
is the dissemination and acceptance of volunteering in public
consciousness, and to initiate research projects and proposals
encouraging voluntary work.
